In 2011, a local lender engaged The McEnery Company to determine the AS IS and Prospective Market Value of the proposed historic tax credit assisted renovation of the Joy Theatre on Canal Street. In 2003, due to growing movie theatre competition, the Joy closed its doors. The theatre was then badly damaged during Hurricane Katrina and remained vacant for numerous years prior to the renovation of the theatre in 2012. The Joy is now one of the most popular theatres in New Orleans, and has a total seating capacity of 1,200.
